The old she oak that clings to the bank was hugging the last puddle of the seasonal waterhole. It’s only a creek but the peace I felt soothed all the jagged parts of me. I sat quietly soaking it in for 20 minutes and climbed back up the hill restored and excited. The next day I dragged my paint and canvas down there and started painting.
