Travis D. Hendrix

Travis D. Hendrix

  • Artist’s Statement

Travis' work represents a search for meaning in the Semiotic Blanks.
Through the use of psychogeography, Travis maps his way through the world combining his lived experiences with inner interpretations of them, to discover himself within a middle ground, defined as the Penumbra.

  • Biography

Travis is an Australian artist currently living in Berlin. His art practice combines elements of fine art, illustration, calligraphy, illumination and cartography. His unique style finds its way onto works on paper, fashion wear and tattoos.

  • Influences

Using the ‘paranoiac-critical method’ as pioneered by the Surrealists, Travis allows imagery to emerge from the substrate on a subconscious level. Embracing the nautical and sometimes steampunk themes that this technique gives rise to, he begins to notice the appearance of common metaphors. Travis' art practice and Gesamtkunstwerk form a collection that together tells the narrative of this search.
