Robyn Bauer
Artist’s Statement
I feel that my role as an artist is to interpret the urban landscape around me. I am a great walker and I find my inspiration on my daily walks around the suburbs and city of Brisbane, or indeed any part of Australia where I happen to be. I notice the changes in the buildings, the colours and the flora of the urban landscape and my goal is to make my audience see these things also. I find beauty in the most built up areas and want to communicate this. There is also a recording aspect for posterity. I draw and paint "en plein air" on location and produce large works in the studio. My intention is to have a sense of integrity in my work that is accurate to the time and place where is was produced.
