Robert Prentice

  • Biography

Born in country NSW in 1938. Raised on a mixed farm but soon turned to a trade in the building industry, starting with farm sheds and culminating as building manager for Kawana Estates (Sunshine Coast) in the 1970's. Moved to Toowoomba in the 1980's and developed a family business in Torrington Landscape Centre.
On retirement Rob and wife Lin became captivated with researching, finding and then making accurate 1/12th scale models of old farm wagons and horse drawn vehicles from all over Australia. Many models were made specifically for clients, often of a piece of history with which they had a strong emotional attachment.
Rob's current personal collection of 22 dioramas contain many of the pieces he and Lin have made over time. Each diorama is like a snapshot of Australian history.
