Julya Hegarty is a multi- disciplinary artist, creating 2D and 3D artworks from her small, shed studio situated in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Her Canvas and ceramic artworks are heavily inspired by the flora and fauna native to the coastal regions found within her local tropical rainforest bush settings. Within her large acrylic and canvas she uses vibrant, bold colours, rejoicing in the expressiveness of flora floral forms, finding beauty in all the twists and turns of the organic shapes, reflecting a naive whimsical style.
Coles and Woolworths Food catalogues and magazines are inspiration for her food related artworks, both ceramics and acrylic drawings and paintings. Her aim is to bring laughter and joy to the viewer. The child playful like humour in us all no matter of age.
Julya has completed and attained awards in local and interstate art competitions, most recently she won the 3D component for the 2022 Sunshine Coast local Content Prize.
