Judith Rook

Judith Rook

  • Biography

Judith Rook was born in 1942 in Melbourne, and she has been drawing as long as she can remember, regarding it fondly as her great companion.

After studying art in her teens, Judith came back to her love of art in the mid 1960’s when she began art studies in traditional and tonal painting, which she pursued for some years.

She then taught art from her home, and then from her own commercial gallery and studio.

Judith was also a tutor for the Dandenong Art Group.

During the 1970’s Judith held several successful exhibitions in and around Melbourne, and won art awards both in Victoria and in Queensland. Moving to Queensland from Victoria in 1981, her style evolved, influenced by the change in her landscape and surrounding colours; and a new contemporary style emerged.

Judith also expanded her knowledge in all mediums and as well as paintings she also works with clay, fabrics and embroidery.

Judith’s works are colourful, energetic and happy.

Now living in Ballarat, Judith is continuing to paint and create works in clay and fabrics, as well as expanding her creative pursuits into writing. Judith was always interested in reading and writing and after joining a U3A writing group, she embarked on writing her first book, which has recently been published.

Judith Rook’s artworks are represented in various private collections in Australia and overseas.
