Eddie & David Wentorf
“My journey creating bronze sculptures started years ago after an accident which damaged my left hand. While recovering I was totally bored and started working with clay. I needed a way to create income as I was not able to return to my trade. Clay had its limitation as to the fine detail I was looking for. Having worked all my life in metal I turned to bronze casting. My first efforts were quite primitive but by observing other sculptures, they slowly improved and I was able to sell some."
Eddie Wentorf' s artistic life was inspired by nature, but established through necessity over 30 years ago. He has certainly mastered the art of lost wax casting and of conveying native animals with character, but being true to life. He is now represented across Australia and has completed many major commission over the years. Moving from Tasmania to NSW, he has been able to build an even better foundry giving him total control of every stage of the whole process and has been joined by his son, David, in the business.
