Artist’s Statement
A country girl at heart, I revel in creativity that is not restricted by boundaries. I adore the freedom of semi-abstract work; whilst there is some level of planning, I work intuitively as I respond to colour, form and mark making. And (no doubt apparent), I paint in vivid colour: a childhood in sunny NQ has left me with a love of saturated colour.
Biography
Di‘s art draws on her intuitive creativity, inspired by nature and reflecting the uniquely Australian light and colour that have saturated her being. Just as Di’s spirit is influenced by her idyllic childhood, growing up in rural north Queensland where freedom and promise abounded, so is her design approach. Through extensive learning and experimentation in both watercolours and acrylic, she is a respected intuitive artist creating contemporary works dynamic with translucency and depth.
Influences
I draw on what I know: the places I’ve been, my life experiences.
I paint what I love: country, nature, colour.
The result: unique, personal and intuitive landscapes, florals and abstracts.
