  • Artist’s Statement

Amy's artwork is a vibrant exploration of nature's beauty, expressed through abstract forms that convey feelings and moods. She embraces color, mark making, shape, and line, allowing the paint to create its own patterns through drips, splatters, and thick applications. This approach fosters a dynamic, less controlled interaction between the paint and the canvas, inviting viewers to engage actively with the creative process. Through her art, Amy aims to evoke joy and a deeper connection to the natural world.

  • Biography

Amy is an abstract artist born and raised in Queensland but currently respectfully living and creating on Cammeraygal Land in Sydney. She has always felt the pull to draw, paint or create. After a career in Human Resources, starting a family and some health obstacles, that internal voice telling her to “just paint” became more insistent and so, not that long ago, she honoured it by dedicating more time to her artistic practice and hasn’t looked back.

Amy joins Downlands under the collection of Aspire Gallery (Brisbane, Qld).

  • Influences

Amy draws inspiration from the natural environment, captivated by its inherent beauty and dynamic qualities. Her use of abstract techniques reflects her desire to capture and convey the essence of nature, allowing paint to interact in spontaneous and uncontrolled ways. This process highlights the interplay of colors and textures, mirroring the randomness and vibrancy found in the natural world. Amy's work seeks to celebrate and share the joy she finds in nature with her audience.
