  • Artist’s Statement

My art explores our relationship with loss and love, and how they co-exist. When both my parents died within a few years of each other I turned to my Art practice for answers. I would take my dog for walks through the local cemetary to try and find some sort of closure, but it was the sunsets and skies from this magical cemetary that really spoke to me. These moody skies became the inspiration for my paintings. You'll see lots of pinks, purples and blues dancing around the canvas.
My process is highly intuitive and usually evolves from my studio playlist and inner monologue. If you look closely you'll find asemic writing under layers of fluid brush strokes and drips. While I mainly use acrylic ink and paint, my studio has loads of pencils, oil pastel and spray paints for accents and details.

  • Biography

I am a Tasmanian born abstract artist living in Brisbane with my husband, two boys and our king charles cavallier.

Art has always been a big part of my life. My mother was an artist and I spent many hours in her studio as a child. I remember being in the way a lot! And if I wasn't in the way of my mum, I was in the garage with my dad building cars getting in his way.

I've spent all of my life involved in some form of creative outlet. When I finished school I opted to study Performing arts over Fine arts, but found myself more interested in costume and set design than learning my lines. Anyone who's known me for any length of time will tell you that creativity is in my blood.

I am fairly new to exhibiting my work having shown my paintings in my first gallery group show in 2022. Since then I have had consistant acceptance into local galleries and art shows and a solo exhibition at the start of 2023. I'm so excited to be able to live and breathe art, and I hope you all enjoy the results.

  • Influences

My most recent work explores the hidden world around us. The moments we are often too busy to notice. The way water moves when we touch it, the way the sun sets through the trees or the textures of that trees bark. These moments are explored through the use of acrylic on raw canvas. I love how unpredictable the raw canvas can be and the movement this creates.
