Artist Statement
Rose portrays the beauty of our natural Australian flora through mark making on clay vessels integrated with the ever shifting sculptural expressions of the landscape of our coastal environment. Rose is currently working towards her next exhibition. Her work can be viewed under AbbieRose Collections on Instagram and Facebook. Rose's work is currently on display at Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane. Her work is often on display as part of group exhibitions held at Et Al Gallery, Sandgate.
Biography
Rose Van Oyen is a multidisciplinary visual artist living and working in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland. Rose draws her inspiration from her surrounding natural world, in particular the ocean and Australian flora. Ceramics are the focus of her practice, and while she enjoys creating quirky and whimsical pieces related to her love of Alice in Wonderland, her other concerns revolve around the Australian landscape.
Influences
An ongoing theme in Rose's work is the exploration of the natural world, in particular coastal erosion. The ocean can be a beautiful and peaceful place, but also powerful and dangerous. Rose also loves to create quirky and whimsical pieces related to her love of Alice in Wonderland.
