Artist Statement
I am predominantly a landscape painter who gets satisfaction spending hours in my studio working on new pieces. I like detail and use fine brushwork to render shapes and forms. Grasses have been a favourite subject for many years and continue to draw my attention. Being new to Highfields, I am keen to discover new areas of inspiration.
Biography
Yvette Hugill began her art career studying Graphic Design through the National Art School in Sydney. She later worked as a book designer for an international publishing house. Predominantly a landscape painter, she derives inspiration from her local and regional environment. Grass has been a favourite subject over the years and a focus in many of her pieces. Contemporary still life works are also quite often a feature in many of her exhibitions. She has exhibited widely and regularly throughout NSW and has work represented in civic, private, corporate and regional galleries in Australia, Japan, Finland, China the U.K. and U.S.A.
Influences
I have been influenced by many fine artists over the years, especially Andrew Wyeth. Van Gogh, Gauguin and Cezanne.
