Artist Statement

I love how much more observant I have become since exploring this new passion of watercolour painting. I am looking more closely at colour and shape, tone and light and shade, and with each new painting, I feel I am making great improvements.

Biography

My name is Janette Eckersley. I am an emerging Toowoomba-based watercolour artist who has always loved being creative. Since retiring, I have been able to pursue painting more seriously, embracing the opportunity to develop my skills and explore new techniques. I enjoy learning from talented local artists and have found the Toowoomba art community to be incredibly welcoming, supportive, and inspiring. My work is inspired by the ever-changing moods of nature and the simple, meaningful moments of family life, which I strive to capture with softness, colour, and feeling.

Influences

At this early stage of my journey, I have been most influenced by the talented local artists I have sought to learn from, and who encouraged me greatly to work on developing my own style.
