Collette 'Alice' Garnham
Artist Statement
As an artist based in Toowoomba, QLD, I find immense joy in the process of creating art that embodies relaxation and the pursuit of treasured moments including getting through a cancer diagnosis. My creative practice is rooted in the belief that art should not only be a reflection of personal expression but also a source of comfort and serenity for both the creator and the viewer. I immerse myself in the act of painting, allowing each brushstroke to be a meditative journey where the pressures of daily life dissolve, revealing the beauty of the present moment. My work often draws inspiration from the natural landscapes surrounding Toowoomba, along with travels, where the shifting colors of the sky and the intricate patterns of flora serve as a backdrop for my exploration of harmony and tranquility. I seek to evoke a sense of calm in my audience, inviting them to pause and appreciate the subtleties in life that are often overlooked. Through my use of color and texture, I aim to create an immersive experience that encourages contemplation and connection. Ultimately, my intention is to share the enjoyment I find in painting, transforming each piece into a treasured expression of peace and a reminder of the simple pleasures that inspire us all.
