Artist Statement

Today, I have mostly been concentrating a lot my drawing on my love of hevey horses, often attenddng local hevey horse shows to obtain original photo refferences to use for my art work. I use mostly Pollychromos color pencils for my drawings as they offer a harder base coverage aswell as Caran Dache and Pablo pencils that blend well together and allow smooth transitions between colors.

Biography

Karina has been drawing for several years. As a child, she drew regularly but let it slide as her life became busy with work and family . Once her children were grown, her time became her own again and she renewed her love for drawing by enrolling in an airbrushing class that helped her gain skills and knowledge in colour theory and tonal values that helped her transiiton to colour pencils as her primary medium. Today, her artwork reflects her love of horses and dogs, occasionally featuring human subjects for an added challenge.

Influences

My influence for my drawings tend to come from real experiences I've had whilst working with my own horses and dogs. I try to recreate moments or memories as detailed as I can that are special to me.
