Artist Statement
Floral artist Rosy Chapman is inspired by the Granite Belt region for its breathtaking scenery and natural abundance. Think wildflowers, fresh produce, amazing food & wines, rich cultural tapestry/history, and four distinct seasons. “I don’t know of another place like it. I feel deeply connected to the land, the people and the history. It has always been my home. I have always felt like anything is possible here. Even in the depths of winter I find something beautiful and inspirational”.
Biography
Rosy Chapman’s current focus is floral acrylics on canvas. She graduated from Brisbane Institute of Art 2013 Fine Arts, and Sophia College, Artistic Therapies 2014 and has been tutoring and demonstrating ever since. She was the Founder and co-ordinator of the Granite Belt Art and Craft Open Studio bi-annual Event from 2018-2023, a community wellbeing engagement event based on the idea that ‘art is for everyone’. ‘GBART’ was designed to develop the arts and cultural tourism industry for Southern Downs as part of its economic recovery from drought, bushfires and COVID.

Landscape Winner, People Highly Commended • 2021 – Southern Queensland (8 x LGA’s), Cultural Champion - Arts and cultural tourism in the Granite Belt and Southern Downs (GBART Event) • 2003 - Special Mention Victorian Cancer Council Daffodil Day Art Awards. • 2002 - 2nd Prize Dayboro Day (Non-Professional Art).
