Artist Statement

Michelle’s paintings explore the quiet poetry of aged interiors, walls with peeling paint, faded patterns, and the patinas of history. Her works aim to capture the feeling of stepping into a forgotten manor or chateau, where fragments of beauty whisper stories of the past.

Inspired by Jacobean embroidery, 18th-century chinoiserie, and Silk Road textiles and ceramics, Michelle creates works that feel antique, distressed, and layered with memory. Through her love of patterns and florals, she evokes a sense of nostalgia that bridges centuries and cultures.
