Michael Schoemaker
Biography
I have created for many years as time and life have allowed. I love to create big bold pieces using bright colours and natural materials. Over the past three or four years I have focused a lot more on creating with many different mediums, however, I have always worked in timber - mainly salvaged, recycled timber or trees destined for the chipper or firewood. I love unusual shapes, highly figured and natural edge timber which I can transform into imaginative furniture. I am currently working in mediums such as timber, Hebel, glass, steel, copper, paper, resin as well as watercolour and acrylic. Showing off the grain and the story of the tree is what inspires me. I love to create colourful creations that, when shared, give a sense of joy, fun and improves the spaces we live in. Art is to be shared and enjoyed.
