Stephanie Creigh
Artist Statement
Stephanie creates vibrant contemporary Australian landscapes that reflect the beauty and variety of the country she calls home. Working primarily with acrylic and gel impasto, she layers and carves paint to form bold patterns and textures, often using the end of a brush for mark-making. Her distinct technique of light-on-dark and dark-on-light brings depth, energy, and a rich tertiary colour palette to her work, evoking the ever-changing spirit of the Australian landscape.
Biography
Stephanie Creigh is a self-taught contemporary landscape artist based on Gomeroi land in Tamworth, New South Wales. Since 2022, when her work My Country was selected for Art Express and toured the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Tweed Regional Gallery, she has pursued art full-time. Over the past three years, she has completed numerous commissions, sold works across Australia and internationally, and exhibited widely across the eastern coast. Stephanie joins Downlands under the collection of Aspire Gallery (Brisbane, Qld).
Influences
Stephanie’s work is deeply inspired by the diverse Australian landscape and the memories and emotions tied to the places she visits. Travel, local scenery, and her rural upbringing all shape her practice, as do moments of connection to country and community. She is particularly drawn to the challenge of translating natural textures and light into her own unique, layered visual language.
