Artist Statement
Felicity's current work explores the quiet beauty found in everyday moments of rural Australia. Drawing inspiration from life in the country, she seeks to capture the sense of peace, connection and belonging that can be found in the simplest experiences. Through her paintings, ordinary scenes are elevated beyond their practical purpose, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the atmosphere, light and emotion that often pass unnoticed in daily life. Expansive skies, changing light and moments of stillness become central elements within her work, creating a sense of calm and presence. Rather than focusing on grand events or dramatic subjects, Felicity has been drawn to the beauty that exists within familiar routines and fleeting moments. Her work reflects an appreciation for the slower rhythms of country living and the relationships between people, animals and place that shape those experiences. Through each painting, Felicity aims to evoke a feeling rather than simply depict a scene. She invites viewers to reconnect with the value of being present, to find beauty in the ordinary, and to reflect on the simple moments that often become the most meaningful memories.
Biography
Felicity is an Australian contemporary artist whose work is inspired by the natural beauty of the Australian landscape. Born in 1997, she began her artistic journey as a child and studied art throughout her secondary education. In the years that followed, she worked as a commissioned pastel artist, focusing on highly detailed pet portraits. Over time, her practice evolved as she embraced the freedom of her own creative expression. A largely self-taught artist, Felicity has developed her distinctive style through years of experimentation and personal exploration. She now creates in her studio on their farm in the Lockyer Valley, drawing inspiration from the bush and the many animals surrounding her.
Influences
Felicity’s work is deeply influenced by her upbringing on remote cattle stations, where she spent her childhood surrounded by wide open landscapes, cattle, and horses. Growing up in the outback instilled in her a strong connection to the bush and an appreciation for the beauty in everyday rural life. Her love for the land and the animals who call it home continues to define the essence of her work.
