Janet Mayes
Artist Statement
‘The principal theme in my work focuses on the detail contained in nature, still life and intimate landscapes. I believe a well-balanced composition is vital with an interesting subject or focal point, including contrast in depth of field. A consideration especially important to me is the interplay of light and shadow on a subject, which serves to enhance its beauty or character. Drafting film is a smooth, translucent support that I enjoy working on because the colours appear to be rich and luminous.'
