Still life artist statement These artworks are of fruit and vegetables I grow, and the recipes I cook and make with them. My still life works are a form of visual diary and a way to communicate to my viewer how I see the world and what is important to me- a form of self-portrait. I am inspired to paint an object because something about it has captured my imagination; to develop not just the artwork itself, but it’s context within a body of work. For me, the opportunity to create stories with my still-life works and their relationship to my life experience, enriches every element of the artwork- from what to include, how to compose and design it, the quiet meditative joy (and challenge) of painting it, and the experience of the viewer. David will be doing workshop on Saturday and Sunday:20th/21st Sept McGregor School of Creative Arts workshops My workshop is a one day Plein Air flower painting workshop in acrylics, one on the Saturday at the Japanese Gardens next to the Uni, and the Sunday one is at Queens Park.
