Artist Statement
My art is a celebration of transformation shaped by a journey of creative exploration. From the intricate precision of stained glass to the tactile versatility of mosaics. I have always been drawn to the alchemy of material - repurposing fragments into cohesive vibrant works. My current fascination centres on acrylic pouring with its fluidity and unpredictability. Each piece is a unique dance of colour, shape and patterns, reflecting the organic beauty of chance and intention. Inspired by the natural beauty of the world around us, my creations bridge tradition and innovation inviting viewers to find meaning in the interplay of structure and spontaneity.
Biography
My childhood and young adulthood life was spent in the Toowoomba District. After my schooling, I joined the workforce and in the early 1970s decided to travel overseas. Canada became my home for many years and during that time raised a family and worked full time. My interest in art developed to Stained Glass. In the early 1990s, I returned to Toowoomba. My creative journey expanded to include Stained Glass and 3 D Mosaics delighting in the process of repurposing diverse materials through gluing and grouting. This hands on approach to transforming everyday objects into art remains a cornerstone of my work. My creative journey has further expanded into the free-flowing art form of Acrylic Pouring and Acrylic printing on Paper. Each painting is a unique one-of-a-kind expression, reflecting my fascination with the unpredictable beauty of these mediums. Upon retiring from the workforce, I joined the Pittsworth Art Group and have enjoyed the network of wonderful encouraging artists.
Influences
Creating Colourful Contemporary Designs using Fluid Art, Mixed Media Art and Acrylic Printed Paper from my own artistic vision and imagination inspires my internal desire to paint unique artworks. I am influenced by the creative Paper Artworks by Rex Ray, and must acknowledge the many Fluid, Abstract and mixed Media Artists whose works play a role in how I approach my art.
