Artist Statement

Nature is an escape and a place of solace for me, and this is represented by the bush, the mountains, the creeks and man-made landscapes of gardens. I see beauty in many aspects of nature from grand waterfalls to small rocks and my work is a plea to appreciate the natural world while we still can. My paintings take you to a happy place where your mind can rest, slow down and think. It gives me great joy to have a collector choose my painting to take home to be a part of their life, their story. I work mainly in acrylics, taking photos of places I have been and taking these home to re-create in paint. In my home studio, I paint bush scenes and plants and flowers from my own garden. Walking in the bush, taking in views from hilltops, sitting quietly in the garden - these are the things that give me pleasure and I hope will do the same for the viewer.

Biography

. Profoundly inspired by the intricate tapestry of our natural world, my work serves as a dialogue in the relationship humans share with the environment. Through art, I strive to capture the essence of landscapes, the beauty in the detail, from small rocks to large waterfalls. My work is a testament to the resilience and beauty of nature, reflecting my dedication to both artistic expression and environmental awareness. By merging diverse materials and techniques, I aim to persuade viewers to contemplate their own connection to the world around them and join me in resolution to protect our environment while we still can. My artistic process it an immersive journey, where the textures and hues of the earth inform my palette and composition, resulting in works that are visually captivating and thought-provoking. I feel driven to create, and thoroughly immerse myself in the processes that I am constantly exploring and evolving.

Influences

I enjoy the art of the great painters through history, and particularly the work of the Impressionists such as Monet and the post Impressionists such as Gauguin and Seurat. I spend time with the art from many modern artist across the world whose work creates that sense of beauty and wonder - Randall David Tipton, Conrad P Clarke, Francis Sills, Robert Kushner, Textile artist Frances Ryan and Australian artists such as Vanessa Ashcroft and Cressida Campbell.
