Artist Statement

My practice centres on organic vessels that hold impressions of place, memory and movement. Each form is shaped intuitively, allowing marks and irregularity to reflect both material and experience rather than fixed representation. I use my own glazes and have sourced raw material from significant sites. These materials become embedded in the form, carrying physical and emotional traces of those environments. Working from my Highfields garden studio, I remain closely connected to the natural landscape, where each piece becomes a quiet record of lived experience, material transformation, and the passage of time.

Biography

For over 30 years, my art practice has moved between portraiture and sculptural clay, grounded in a fascination with form, character, and material. What began as an exploration of the human face has gradually expanded into tactile, expressive clay forms that carry both narrative and texture. In Central Queensland, I established Teadust Studio, a ceramics business that focused on organic handcrafted homewares. My current practice is unfolding in a new studio nestled within my Highfields gardens. This environment has deepened my connection to material and place, with each piece reflecting an ongoing dialogue between landscape, memory and making.
