Kerry Nobbs
Artist Statement
I try to let the viewer discover a path into my work and let them just get lost in the image, so they can forget about their stresses in the day. Not everyone can get away for a few days to recharge, so I hope they can sit in front of my painting at the end of the day and let their mind relax
Biography
My earliest memory, is drawing at around the age of eight. I was always influenced by my surroundings and current interests. I started with pencils and moved on to acrylics and eventually oils. I painted murals on the Gold Coast in the early 80's and eventually turned professional with my first art prize win in 1984. I have exhibited in galleries across Australia and Noumea. My latest first prize was in 2019, the landscape section, of the d'Arcy Doyle Art Awards
Influences
I was influenced by the early Australian Artists, like Streeton, Roberts and Gruner. I draw inspiration from the general landscape, particularly where atmosphere and light play an important part.
