Artist Statement
Concepts of “Place” are core to my art practice . These places may be physical, spiritual or experiential, and are often metaphors for a spiritual journey. The majority of my work happens in the studio, although I am frequently outdoors with sketchbook in hand. Recurring motifs include repeating lines and organic amorphous shapes, together with gesture, space and a considered, expressive use of colour.
Biography
Sharon Roberts is a contemporary painter residing and working in South East Queensland. She is known for her lyrical multi-layered artworks and nuanced colour, often expressing a contemplative response to place and personal experience.
