Artist Statement

My painting style is an exploration of simplicity, balance and the quiet character of the world around me. Working primarily in acrylic, I create contemporary works that combine clean, graphic forms with organic shapes, reducing subjects to their essential elements through thoughtful composition and simplified form. My background in business and analytical fields has fostered an appreciation for structure, geometry and precision, while my connection to rural Queensland continually reminds me that nature rarely conforms to perfect symmetry. I enjoy the dialogue between these opposing ideas—order and spontaneity, precision and imperfection - and allow them to coexist within each painting. I believe that simple images can often communicate more effectively than highly detailed illustrations in today's fast-paced world. Rather than documenting a subject exactly as it appears, I seek to capture its essence, inviting viewers to pause, appreciate the beauty of the everyday, and form their own connection with the work. Ultimately, I hope my paintings provide a moment of calm and reflection, celebrating the quiet beauty found in ordinary subjects and encouraging a renewed appreciation for the world that surrounds us.

Biography

Born and raised in the Toowoomba region, I developed a love of painting from an early age under the guidance of my mother. Throughout my schooling I continued to refine my artistic practice, and the opportunity to participate in a French Immersion Program culminated in travel through France deepening my appreciation for art, architecture and design. These experiences continue to influence my work today. After completing a Bachelor of Business and Commerce, my professional career has spanned banking, accounting and business management. I now work full-time as a Business Manager and Analyst on a beef cattle property near Mundubbera, Queensland. In my twenties, I find myself in a period of growth and exploration, building a career while continuing to develop as an artist. Painting remains a constant - a creative space to reflect, experiment and evolve. Working across both analytical and artistic disciplines has shaped the way I approach my practice.
