My four-decade friendship with actor, musician, and writer Eugene Gilfedder has yielded numerous fascinating conversations and many nights in the studio painting. This digital work, based on a photograph of Eugene in mid-thought, captures a slice of time in a conversation about the nature of consciousness. It represents one day in a multitude, and yet oddly, it is the first portrait I had done of him in all those years.
