  • Artist’s Statement

    Susanne is drawing on reflections and sources of inspiration that have supported her through the turbulent time of the COVID pandemic. Her current works stand for groundedness, mindfulness , and self-care during upheaval. Susanne depicts natural beauty in her art because nature retains its beauty throughout tough times and Susanne regards it as the only dependable, constant source of inspiration.

  • Biography

    Susanne began painting in her 40s, quickly discovering her passion for the pastel medium in 2017. Her focus has been landscapes and close-up portraits of birds. Two solo exhibitions attest to Susanne’s prolificness with a preference for painting large.
    As a member of the Toowoomba Art Society and the Pastel Society of Australia, Susanne regularly exhibits pieces in group exhibitions, as well as pursuing exhibition and competition opportunities locally and overseas.

  • Influences

    Susanne has been a regular participant in McGregor Art Retreats and has been influenced by all tutors there. Influential pastel artists include Max Wilks, Grace Paleg and Marla Baggetta.
