  • Artist’s Statement

My work celebrates the diversity and beauty of the Australian landscape, this series focus is flowers, a universal symbol of life, joy, and hope. I use a variety of media and techniques to create paintings that express my personal vision and style, applying acrylics, inks, watercolours, pastels, and mixed media to achieve different effects and moods, and to add texture and interest to my work.

I am inspired by the natural world and its colours, shapes, and patterns. I travel into the Australian landscape to source inspiration from the native flora and fauna. I also observe and sketch flowers from my own garden, where I grow a range of plants and herbs.

I'm curious about the history and culture of flowers, such as their meanings, uses, and symbolism in different contexts and incorporate these elements into my work to create a deeper connection with my subject.

My work is influenced by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Frida Kahlo, and David Hockney, who have used flowers as a theme in their work. I admire their use of colour, light, and composition to create expressive and memorable paintings. I also draw inspiration from contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami who have created innovative and playful works with flowers.
Through my work, I hope to share my passion and appreciation for flowers with others. I also want to evoke positive emotions and feelings in the viewers, such as happiness, peace, and wonder. I believe that flowers have the power to brighten up our lives and our world.
