Artist’s Statement
Artists Statement
My life and passion is centred around painting Landscapes and Seascapes in oil/acrylic or mixed media. After many years in the corporate world, 20 years ago my passion for art returned, inspiring me to establish a teaching and workshop facility called Wisteria Fine Art Studio. Bringing some of Australia's and top tutors to our doorstep here in Queensland. I also dabble in printmaking, pastels, oils, acrylics and other exciting stuff that takes my fancy.
I'm very fortunate to live in a beautiful part of Queensland Australia which is located by the sea - close to the Glasshouse Mountains that are set amongst a stunning rural backdrop. My art has always been influenced by the Australian landscape so I like to paint outdoors (Plein Air) as much as possible. I find painting is such a personal emotion so in all of my work I try to convey what I am seeing by capturing the light - energy and atmosphere that I am seeing and feeling. Hopefully I pass this emotion on to the person who is looking at my painting.
My paintings generally represent vibrant colours in a contemporary impressionistic style.
Biography
Biography
Ron Bryant was born in Sydney and from an early age he was drawn to express himself through art.
One of Bryant’s first jobs after leaving school was in the advertising department of a large Sydney department store. During this time he attended a commercial art course at East Sydney Technical College – now called the National Arts School of Australia.
Over a period of the next ten years he felt the need to explore other creative areas to supplement his income so he chose photography and studied under a well known Sydney photographer for many years. He also gained the highest recognition by being inducted in to the Australian Professional Photographers Association.
Bryant built his business on commercial and fashion photography and he was fortunate to be offered a contract by a well known Sydney advertising agency to shoot commercial pages for client catalogues including weekly double page spreads for a Sydney daily newspaper.
He did this for a number of years before following another path that led him to other business ventures far away from being creative.
In 2005 he was asked to join a local watercolour group that inspired him to follow his creative dream once again.
In 2010 Bryant began pastel studies under Master Pastelist Louise Corke PSA as well as being tutored in other mediums by artists such as Herman Pekel, John Wilson, Warwick Fuller, Todd Whisson and the late Brian Cook.
To further his studies he has painted and attended workshops in Greece, England, Scotland and the USA. He is owner/director at Wisteria Fine Art Studio in Beachmere Qld Australia where he has a studio and regularly runs workshops in the Moreton Bay Region and at Sacred Soul Manor in Bowral NSW.
Bryant’s overall emphasis on painting has been the continuation of the passion taught by his tutors where painting outdoors should be an exercise in note taking with colour and observations of life to capture the light and the mood of the subject and to establish the basis for future works from these studies.
In 2020 he was a recipient of a Scenic Rim Council/ RDAF grant to study and produce a body of work of the MacDonnell Ranges Forna/Flora in Alice Springs NT Australia.
His works are acquired by private collectors, businesses both locally in Australia and overseas....
