I love the messiness of working with pastels. I end up with filthy hands and often have splotches of colour on my face, but out of that mess comes something that seems deliberately ordered. That process takes me into another world, where it’s all about coloured marks on a piece of paper. In that moment, it’s like Metallica said, nothing else matters.
Toowoomba-based Robyn Henderson has dabbled in art since she was young. Although this dabbling has been across a range of mediums, life and work always seemed to get in the way, keeping art in the background. It is only now in retirement that Robyn has some spare time and has started to play with pastels.
