Artist’s Statement
I am an animal and wildlife artist using whimsy and surrealism to create paintings, drawings, prints and ceramics. Drawing inspiration from the amazing creatures of the animal kingdom, I create characters with a narrative and storyline, often with an environmental or thought-provoking message. Works are created in a realistic style often with old masters techniques, but with an element of surrealism that takes the work past the obvious to create a narrative, a quirky twist or a deeper meaning.
Biography
I have developed my style over the past 25 years, with degrees in both Fine Art from the Queensland College of Art and Graphic Design. My work has been shown in solo exhibitions, joint exhibitions and group exhibitions and is held in collections both in Australia and Internationally.
Influences
I am strongly influenced by Surrealism, Magical Realism, Pop Surrealism, Whimsical Art, and The Old Masters.
