  • Artist’s Statement

    Because of his love and knowledge of Perspective Drawing many of Nev's works involve the necessity to apply this such as Street Scenes, Townscapes and Harbour scenes. Nev also loves to travel with his wife Barbara and many of his paintings are produced as a result of these travels. His favourite city outside of Brisbane is Venice and he has been there fifteen times

  • Biography

    Nev Received early training in Perspective drawing at school and during the Electrical Engineering course which he completed at the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and a University Medal in 1956.
    After a career as an Electrical Engineer, Nev took early retirement in 1987 and began to concentrate on his painting. He initially tried all media, but was converted to to watercolour after attending a course in England with English watercolourist Ron Ranson.
    Nev has no formal art education but has studied under many well known Australian watercolourists in particular David Taylor and Alvaro Castagnet.Nev has won many awards for Watercolour including First Prize for Watercolour in the RNA Exhibition in Brisbane. His work may be seen at the Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane and in regular exhibitions with the Queensland Art Collective and exhibitions at the Richard Randall Art Studio in Mt Coo-tha Gardens.

  • Influences

    Nev was mainly influenced by British artist Ron Ranson to take up Watercolour Painting after attending a workshop with him in England

    Nev has won many awards for Watercolour including First Prize in the following:

  • Exhibitions

    First major Solo Exhibition in August 1998. He was one of two Feature Artists at the Toowoomba Grammar School Annual Art Show and in November 2007 was a feature Artist at the Rotary Club of Portland ( Victoria ) annual Art show. He has regular solo exhibitions and joint exhibitions at the Richard Randall Art Studio in Mt Coot-tah gardens
