Artist’s Statement
Curious about everything, I love to explore the world in which I live. These vignettes are of moments that tweaked my imagination. They hold stories and hints of mysteries and secrets hidden in time and place. The objects carry the echoes of lost conversations and whispers of moments long gone. I invite you to share these images and to pause for a moment to remember your own story, evoked by a sound or a smell, or a texture that the hand recalls.
Biography
Early in 2017, Michelle took a six-week break to travel through some gorgeous areas of France, Spain and the Netherlands, and documented her adventures through photography. She found a delightful sense of connectivity as she travelled solo and brought her friends along on the journey through her social media posts.
On Michelle's return to Australia, she began to explore her hometown of Toowoomba in Queensland through the eyes of a traveller, and discovered places that she’d never noticed before: nooks and crannies and laneways and abandoned places that tweaked her imagination and brought out the child-like sense of adventure that had laid dormant for many years.
Michelle's solo exhibitions include "Poetry in Motion" held at St Luke's Anglican Church (2018) and "Look | Imagine | See" at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery (2019). Michelle is planning a third exhibition of black and white images for late 2021.Influences
