Biography
ARTIST
Max Caesar
Drawing and painting have been a part of my life from an early age and I left High School early to study at the National Art School in Sydney for three years full time before working in Sydney Advertising agencies.
Formal training at the National Art School under tutors, Jeffrey Smart, Jack Kilgour, Douglas Dundas and David Strachan set my course as a traditional artist and I relish the demands of good reference and accuracy in detail.
Having grown up on a farm it wasn’t long before I bolted to the bush, to work on stations from South West NSW to the top end of Northern Territory and my affinity with bush life influences the subject of much of my art.
Australia offers a unique palette with a broad range of colour for any subject under any light conditions giving artists the freedom to develop their individual style.
I enjoy art and use what may be considered the traditional mediums of Pencil, Pen and Wash, Watercolour and Oil Paint.
Max CaesarInfluences
My artwork is influenced by the colours of the Australian bush and the art of Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and lately Kathy Ellem.
I am driven by the need of accuracy and detail in subject matter and above all, the need to paint what I like, ahead of what the market may dictate.
I revel in the subject in strong light and defining shadows.Awards
