  • Artist’s Statement

    Throughout his art practice he has paid tribute to the stories of the Kurtjar people in his homeland in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
    From his Cairns studio in Far North Queensland he has created numerous highly successful series focussing on paintings and installations, particularly relating to the Bloodwood totem and the black cockatoo.

  • Biography

    Ian studied Visual Arts at the Northern Territory University in the mid 1990’s.

  • Awards

    Ian was the winner of the highly prestigious Glover Prize in Tasmania in 2010 and has been a finalist in the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW three times. His works are held in numerous private and public collections nationally.
