Fiona Taylor
Artist’s Statement
Painting with pastels has transformed the way I see my surroundings, heightening the way I notice details of light and shadow. this immersive process calms my central nervous system, allowing me to park the 'open tabs' in my mind for a time while I take a deep dive and experience the joy of pastels.
Biography
Fiona rediscovered the allure of pastels in 2023 after her first but brief introduction to them some 23 years earlier.
Fiona's inspiration to paint comes from the flowers and foliage she grows in her garden. As a sentimentalist,
she aims to create an atmosphere of nostalgia in her paintings. From a treasured family tea cup to a bowl of fruit on her sideboard, Fiona hopes to evoke a familiar notion or memory.Influences
My subject matter nearly always features the flowers and foliage from my garden arranged in one of my many adored vases. My artwork is influenced by the floral works of Stephie Clark and Diane Elsden along with the spontaneous arrangements by Cressida Campbell.
