“When I began to move into painting, I found I was applying the same principles to my works (as with sculpture). The canvas or paper became a flow of colour and movement by working with fluid acrylic, water, different mediums and techniques. By working with fluid materials that follow their own rhythm, it allows the piece to form and grow in its own way.”
Fiona graduated from the Queensland College of Art in 1980 and has had a very successful career as a sculptor, greatly involved with symposia and public works. In recent years her drawing skills have come again to the fore and she is now exploring painting in her own style, but still highly inspired by the organic world. Her tonal awareness is captivating and her images have a beguiling fluidity, grounded but moving in all its meanings.
