Courtney Blomfield
Artist’s Statement
I enjoy painting realism, surrealism, impressionist and abstract work, usually in oils but I also incorporate some mixed media and acrylic.
Biography
I'm an emerging artist from sunny Brisbane! I dabble in a number of art forms and mediums, but my primary artistic practice is oil painting.
I was introduced to my love of oil painting through a number of wonderful short courses at Bienarte art studio in Brisbane, but am otherwise self-taught. As someone who enjoys experimenting with new styles and techniques, my art is very varied and flexible, but most of my imagery reflects my love of nature or features compositions that I find visually interesting or thought/emotion provoking.Influences
My subject matter often includes flora and fauna, but I am in the process of developing a wider practice to include figurative/portrait painting and experimenting with abstract works (and anything else that happens to take my fancy at the time). Influences include the impressionist and art nouveau painters. Contemporary artists I admire include Salman Toor, Ekaterina Popova, Jakub Rozalski, John Fenerov, Zhao Xiaoli, Kit King.
