Artist’s Statement
Claire's works are a celebration of colour, texture, and detail, designed to draw the viewer in and uplift through visual storytelling. Using a combination of intuitive abstract forms and naive still life, her mark-making process adds complexity and character to each piece. Layer upon layer of paint creates depth and texture, making each work a unique expression that cannot be replicated. At the heart of her art is an exploration of emotions, capturing the joy and richness of life as it unfolds.
Biography
Claire is a New Zealand-born artist with a background in architecture, whose work reflects her deep connection to both the landscape and the built environment. Her art is known for its vibrant use of colour, layering, and textures that evoke a sense of place and belonging. Drawing on her architectural training, Claire often explores the relationship between nature and man-made forms. Her works are an ongoing expression of her emotions and experiences, balancing the tension between abundance and simplicity.

Claire’s inspiration stems from daily life and the landscapes around her, as well as the interplay between natural and constructed forms. The push and pull between complexity and simplicity, abundance and reduction, forms the foundation of her work, as she seeks to express a sense of belonging and connection through her art.
