Artist’s Statement
I have aimed to convey the softness and character of these cats using soft pastel with a light airy touch. The colours used retain an element of reality interspersed with unexpected verdant hints. I like to use strong colours to create drama, highlight focal points and draw the viewer in.
Biography
CHRISTINE BOULSOVER
As a youngster in the UK I always had drawings in the margins of my compositions and I like to think it gained me a few more marks! I loved to draw and paint but this creativity disappeared over the years and it wasn’t until I attended Queensland College of Art in the late 70’s that I returned to art.
The years moved on and artwork took a back seat but in 2012, in the UK, I revived my art interest and attended Botanical Art classes for three very enjoyable years. I also hapInfluences
Usually my animal artworks are rendered very realistically but I have chosen to portray these cats in a more abstract realistic style with some influence from artists Denise Laurent and Mark Leman.
