Carolyn Lawrence
Artist’s Statement
I have always dabbled in creative pursuits, with a focus on painting in recent years. I work with acrylic, pen, ink, and gouache - often working on marine plywood, incorporating the grain of the timber into my subject.
My style is continually changing and expanding. My artwork is persona and expressive, resulting in artworks ranging from highly-coloured and intricately patterned to those with minimalistic blended colours. My artworks are often very different from one to the other, however each owning its own blend of style.Biography
I am a local Toowoomba artist, having recently relocated from Canberra where I exhibited my works in art shows throughout the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales.
Over the years, my artistic style has continued to expand and change and I am fortunate to have sold artworks to collectors across the country. My focus is painting using a variety of mediums, including but not limited to works on timber and canvas.
Influences
My artistic practice is an unfolding process of intent and chance. The organic patterns and colours of nature often inspire me. I embrace both the seriousness and whimsy of life, by extension my artworks reflect a thought process of what to enhance, what to add, and what to change.
