Artist’s Statement
My work connects me to nature in a contemplative, abstract manner. The way in which I use paint, ink, and other media connects me to the materiality of what I see in plants, water, animals, people and landscapes. Their nonhuman gestures and interactions call for response, which I effect through my use of colour, line, form, texture and composition. Making art in this way fulfils for me a sense of living as a proper human being.
