Artist’s Statement
I have been encouraged to always use Artist Quality pigments and paper and these works presented are all: Windsor & Newton Artist Quality Watercolour Pigments Arches paper rough in 300 – 600gsm.
My modem is never paint where you haven’t been and never paint what you cannot feel, so all paintings come from life and as an emerging artist it has been important to paint plein air if time allows. A lifetime of fishing and the bush has instilled a love of the outdoors, which is the preferred subject of my paintings. To capture the mood and atmosphere of the sea, the city and my landscapes while increasingly looking within the subject seeking out the stories. Many of my paintings contain a story or convey a feeling that imposes itself upon both the image and the viewer. Art speaks to those who listen. If my painting stops them; draws the viewer in, then I have done my job as an artist.
“You have to do your time to reach the stage of an emerging artist and I strongly endorse guidance and direction
without sacrificing your own unique style.”Website
