    Bette Hays (nee Passmore) was born in Sydney in 1922.

    She studied at East Sydney Technical College under Frank Norton, Douglas Dundas and Roland Wakelin.

    Bette Hays lived in Papua New Guinea from 1950 to 1959 and then taught at Townsville Grammar School.

    She exhibited her work in Australia and in the United Kingdom and was represented in the 1995 exhibition “Women Artists of North Queensland” presented at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery in Townsville.

    Bette Hays passed away in 2004.
