Gary’s art is immediately identifiable as Australian, with a deep connection to the outback and a passion for the history of Australia. His style is unique, providing glimpses of larrikinism that abandon the traditional norms of landscape painting.
He has held over 30 successful solo exhibitions - the first at Brisbane's Dunwell Gallery in 1971 and most recently at Cronulla Art Gallery in April 2013 and Graydon Gallery Brisbane in 2014. His artworks are highly sought after throughout Australia as well as by overseas collectors. His engaging interpretation of the Australian landscape has led to overseas exhibitions in Brighton, England and in Shanghai, China. A New York exhibition and a return to China are at the planning stage.
