A clever re-interrogation of his previous show, this Reinvention of aColour Wheel, allows Miles to mimic himself, to show us he knows we know and that he wants us to know he knows. This system of layering on another level of thinking strengthens his investigation and understanding of the visual language he is surrounded by. A fast drive-by can rainbow through a world of toys and flowers, saints and healers, or a deeper resting into the paintings can offer a visionary confrontation where an image’s value is called to order. Ownership, authorship…like my right to write of something I have not seen, like Miles’s right to select images and paint them again and again and again, the value of works and words are lined up to be shot down, revelling in the gaps, the deaths and the fallacies we view, think and live through. Lisa Benson is an artist and thinker, currently living in New Zealand.
